William accompanied his parents to Kentucky about 1795. In the spring of1807 his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Adams arrived in Lincoln co.,Ky. with their children, en route from Virginia to Missouri for thepurpose of buying land and developing a farm. They spent the summer inKentucky with Mrs. Colyer, sister to Mrs. Adams. In the Adams family wasa daughter, Martha Adams, known as Patsy. An attachment developed betweenthis young girl and her cousin, William Colyer. They were married inLincoln co., Ky., October 27, 1807. and later moved to Cynthiana,Harrison Co., Ky.

Fought in the War of 1812. He was mustered in September 19, 1814, inCapt. Forrest's Co., Kentucky Volunteer Militia, under Col. Porter as aprivate.

Some years after Martha and he married, they moved to a farm nearCynthiana, Harrison Co., Ky. where his nephew, William Graves Collier,visited him in 1848. He was still living then, but his name does notappear in the census of 1850 for Harrison Co.

I am a descendant of Joseph Crenshaw of Hanover County, VA who wrote hiswill 3 May 1792 and a copy was found in a chancery court case in BullittCounty, KY at the Kentucky Archives. Joseph mentions a daughter FrancesCollier, the wife of Thomas Collier.

J. Vaughan Curtis attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and theUniversity of Kentucky receiving a B.A. Degree there in 1974 in PoliticalScience. He received a MA in Diplomacy a year later. He received a JDdegree from the University of Kentucky in 1978. Since that time he haspracticed law with the Atlanta GA firm of Alston & Bird where in 1998 heleads the Corporate securities department.

Richard Lewis Curtis attended Western Kentucky University receiving aB.S. in accounting in 1978. He worked with Arthur Andersen & Co. inNashville until 1984 when he started the accounting firm of Curtis &Company, PLC.
