William accompanied his parents to Kentucky about 1795. In the spring of1807 his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Adams arrived in Lincoln co.,Ky. with their children, en route from Virginia to Missouri for thepurpose of buying land and developing a farm. They spent the summer inKentucky with Mrs. Colyer, sister to Mrs. Adams. In the Adams family wasa daughter, Martha Adams, known as Patsy. An attachment developed betweenthis young girl and her cousin, William Colyer. They were married inLincoln co., Ky., October 27, 1807. and later moved to Cynthiana,Harrison Co., Ky.
Fought in the War of 1812. He was mustered in September 19, 1814, inCapt. Forrest's Co., Kentucky Volunteer Militia, under Col. Porter as aprivate.
Some years after Martha and he married, they moved to a farm nearCynthiana, Harrison Co., Ky. where his nephew, William Graves Collier,visited him in 1848. He was still living then, but his name does notappear in the census of 1850 for Harrison Co.
